As I get older, I realize that balance comes in cutting yourself some slack.
Living too rigidly just isn’t sustainable.
For me, balance means acknowledging all aspects of your personality, and integrating them in a mindful way…
I find a healthy balance by doing different types of exercise every week, eating balanced meals to fuel my training, sleeping as close to 8 hours as I can, and also saying yes to exciting things even if they throw all that routine out of whack.
When I let go of doing it perfect or being perfect, life flows better and more balance natural happens.
Health is my priority because when I feel healthy I am more motivated to work hard at my career, professional life, coaching, training, relationships and I am overall a happier person.
I stay as healthy as a I possibly can.
I try to laugh a lot and not take things tooooo seriously.
I look at everything as a creative act.
Every day I make sure I sweat, speak to or share a meal with someone I love, and thank life for being alive.
Maintaining a healthy balance in life has always been a priority of mine.
While I love running and training for a marathon, I also crave social experiences and time spent with loved ones, including my fiancé, family, and good friends.
As far as diet, I usually stick to the 80/20 rule; eating healthy, balanced meals 80% of the time, 20% of the time is spared for indulgences such as ice cream and wine. (Both I could never live without!)
At the end of the day, my life is about creating harmony by honoring my personal desires, communicating with family and friends, and being present in each situation.
I find balance by having good people in my life that hold me accountable, hop in the trenches with me when I need some company, and go buck wild with me when I pull myself out. 🙂
That mixed with ample alone time in nature to reflect, listen, and give back.
Make time for yourself and do NOT feel guilty about it. Life is short so you might as well take care of yourself and let yourself do what you want to do, if possible. If you really want to do something badly enough, you’ll make time to do it.
Prioritize. If you can do a task right away to knock it off your list, then do it.
Do one thing at a time and give it your full attention.
To create a balance, I have to find time to slow down and take care of myself as well as focus on my goals.
I allow Saturdays to be the one day I do absolutely nothing related to work, my goals, or long term planning.
It keeps me human and keeps my creativity alive.
On a larger scale, every 6 months I leave the country.
Some may say it is an escape, but I believe it balances out a tunnel vision created in the day-to-day hustle so many of us live.
