Wanderlust: What do you want to be when you grow up? Kelly Moore: I like thinking that I still have time to grow up. Honestly, I am doing what I love to do and plan to continue to teach yoga for a long time. In addition to teaching yoga, I have an entrepreneurial spirit and am taking the first steps in bringing one of my ideas to market… WL: What did your child self want to be when you grew up? KM: The earliest clear memory I can recall is wanting to be an interior designer. This was in fourth grade and I was inspired by the the Laura Ashley home line. WL: What is your personal theme song? KM: It lifts my mood, inspires me to sing at the top of my lungs with my boys and reminds me to be fearless. WL: What is your favorite yoga pose? KM: Handstand. It's play, balance and strength all rolled into one pose. WL: What is your least favorite yoga pose? KM: Eka Pada Koundinyanasana (twisted one legged arm balance). I have a really hard time accessing my strength in this pose and my back leg feels like a ton of bricks. WL: What has been your most embarrassing moment as a yoga teacher? KM: I was teaching an 8 a.m. class on the Saturday of St. Patty's Day weekend in Chicago. Despite it being early, the mood outside was festive. I was teaching at a studio located on the second floor of a busy street. Toward the end of class, when I was leading everyone into savasana, I heard some kids yelling "Happy St. Patrick's Day!" Throughout savasana these kids kept shouting and cheering and it was easily heard in the studio. I got up to look out the window and saw my three boys leaning out of our car windows, shouting and cheering at all the people walking by. I was mortified. After closing class, I admitted that the screams and shouts were from my kids and, thankfully, I got mostly laughs out of the group. WL: What do you love about what you do? KM: I love movement and love working with the body in all it's different expressions of strength, flexibility and balance.
