YAMA Yoga Studio
The intention behind YAMA YOGA STUDIO is to embrace the joy of life, laughter and love with the ethical practices of YAMA (the attitude we have towards things and people). YAMA begins the 8 limbed Path of Yoga, which constitute the “great vow” of yoga. These are Non-Violence, No Stealing, No Hoarding, Truth and Respect.
Colleen Felgate the owner of Yama Yoga Studio embodies these intentions through her practices. She believes that with love, laughter, compassion and understanding that we can balance, stabilize and support each other. We can help each other see and love ourselves for who we truly are.
Colleen Felgate has over 3000 hours of teacher training in Ashtanga, Inyengar, Yin, Anusara and Yoga Therapy and has been teaching for over 14 years. She is also a certified Stott Pilates Mat Instructor which allows her to often include a strong core component to her classes. With her background she teaches predominately a Vinyasa (flow) style of yoga and a Yoga Pilates Flow; both of which she incorporates awareness on alignment, the breath and engaging the core. She is and continues to be an avid student of anatomy, which she uses to help students get the most from their practice and yet she also takes her students on a journey; one in which they connect with balance & breath, strength & flexibility, stillness & laughter, silence and song. Ultimately creating awareness is her goal.
