Emily Meersand grew up in Manhattan Beach, California, and began regularly practicing yoga at a young age with her mother who was an avid yogi. When Emily moved up the coast to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Business-Economics from UC Santa Barbara, she grew her yoga practice through Bikram yoga. Emily moved to San Francisco in 2011 for her job in the tech industry, where she fell in love with Power Vinyasa yoga and the San Francisco yoga community.
After moving to SF, Emily became a certified yoga instructor and she is now a 200 Hour registered yoga instructor through the Yoga Alliance. She has completed several yoga teacher trainings and is also a certified BASI Pilates instructor.
Emily’s yoga practice and teaching style is derived from vinyasa classes all over the world. She has taught group yoga classes in Playa Maderas, Nicaragua, has studied yoga in Ubud, Bali, and has practiced at multiple Wanderlust yoga festivals. She is passionate about sharing her love of a powerful well-rounded yoga practice through group classes, private classes, corporate yoga classes, and workshops. Her classes incorporate breath, music, and flow to help you reach your peak posture.
Emily currently teaches at yogabeachSF, CorePower Yoga, Crunch Fitness, and Karma Yoga in San Francisco. She also started the Health & Wellness initiative at Yelp, where she teaches yoga and educates employees on living a healthy lifestyle.
Off her mat, you can find Emily hiking, backpacking, camping, and adventuring all over the Bay Area. Emily’s life has been inspired in every way by yoga and hopes to share that with each of her students. Emily is passionate about continuing her journey of yoga all over the world and hopes to see you in class!
