Turtle Bay’s resident grandma to all, Tutu Janet, offers ukelele lessons every day at the resort. With enough stories to fill your day and a teaching method packed with that special brand of love that only tutus (meaning grandmother in Hawaiian, of course) can give, you may not learn a single chord, but you’ll leave with a special fuzzy feeling.
When we sat down with Tutu Janet she taught us the ABC song she learned in school (which is much classier than the modern version in our opinion), belted out the old time classic, Tiny Bubbles, and serenaded us with A Wish is a Dream Your Heart Makes.
Oh, and that killer uke she’s playing? It’s one-of-a-kind, custom-made Martin ukulele that was designed to celebrate Wanderlust. It was crafted with Hawaiian koa, and bears the Wanderlust logo in — get this — gold mother of pearl with abalone pearl trim.
Watch any of these whenever you need a squeeze and or a smile.
