Caroline Calvé
First Canadian to win a women’s parallel giant slalom event at the World Cup in December 2011, in Italy, Caroline Calvé capped off her Olympic season with a national championship title. An accomplished athlete, she has been a member of the Canadian alpine snowboard team for the past seven years and is a two-time Olympian. When she will hang her board, Caroline wants to pursue a career in medias.
Caroline’s athletic career is anything but typical. While a large number of athletes reach their peak at the beginning of the twenties, Miss Calvé decided to seriously take up snowboarding at age 22. Her decision to launch herself completely in an athlete’s lifestyle clearly demonstrates the kind of determination she possesses.
Caroline is a firm believer in the power of determination. She is convinced that anything is possible when pour your heart and soul into it. A look at her impressive career confirms there’s truth to her beliefs! And it’s this capacity to succeed what she sets her mind to that allows her to excel on the slopes and academically, all the while investing time and energy for youth and the environment.
Her dream of competing at the Olympics came true at Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics when she was 31 years old.
The Aylmer native was in Sochi for her second Olympic appearance. She took sixth place in the parallel giant slalom despite being seriously inconvenienced by a virus. She capped off her Olympic season at the Canadian Championships by winning the parallel giant slalom and demonstrating, for the sixth time in her career, that she is the dominant Canadian at the event.
