Sally Sherman is a dancer, triathlete, yogi and educator in Pittsburgh, PA. Sally holds a B.A. in Dance, an M.Ed. in Teaching, an M.S. in Exercise Science, and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology. After years of overtraining as a dancer and dance teaching artist, yoga in a heated room became a beautiful way to heal a damaged body and spirit. Little did she know, yoga was going to transform her life and help her to make everything possible. She is a now a certified Baptiste instructor and has assisted in trainings for Baron Baptiste and other certifying studios. She serves as a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh where she teaches Dance, Yoga and Exercise Science. Sally completed a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology at the University of Pittsburgh where her research focuses on studying the impact of Vinyasa Yoga that she loves. She plans to uncover the data about this practice that will enable it to be more respected in the medical community as a respected form of exercise. As a triathlete, Sally is a sponsored member of the Reaction Nutrition Triathlon Team where she competes in long-distance cycling events, marathons and IRONMAN triathlons. Sally completed her first full distance 140.6-mile IRONMAN triathlon in July in Lake Placid, NY. She uses these events to raise money for local charities including food banks, the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots. As a melanoma survivor, she aims to bring awareness to skin cancer prevention especially among the athletes who spend so much time in the sunshine. #FUskincancer Her greatest achievement to date is as Lorelei’s mom, the role that teaches her full presence, love, and gratitude.
