Kasim Al-Mashat
About
Dr. Kasim Al-Mashat is a Registered Psychologist and yogi from Vancouver, BC. He has an interest in wellness approaches that complement traditional medical and psychological treatments.
In 2014, he completed an intensive six-month Vipassana meditation retreat in a forest monastery, in South East Asia. Kasim is also a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher through the Center for Mindfulness – University of Massachusetts Medical School. He teaches and speaks about the use of mindfulness for supporting physical, psychological, and emotional well-being. Kasim’s experiences with mindfulness inspired him to present at a TEDx event.
His passion for positive change and well-being also led him to Laughter Yoga in 2007. He trained with Dr. Madan Kataria, the founder of Laughter Yoga from India, and became a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher. Kasim’s work has caught the attention of media including Maclean’s magazine, Simon Fraser University News, Global BC Television, and TELUS Optic TV.
