Amanda Gilbert

About

Amanda is a modern-day teacher, guide, and facilitator in meditation and mindfulness. She has been a meditator for over 15 years, and teaches publicly, privately, and for corporations in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York City. Her passion for sharing meditation comes from her own life experience where meditation not only healed her from a traumatic life event, but catapulted her into living a life filled with meaning, purpose, optimal health, joy, and awakening.

Before dedicating herself to teaching full-time, Amanda was Center Director for The Aging Metabolism and Emotions Center at the University of California San Francisco, conducting clinical scientific research investigating the biological and psychological affects of mindfulness and meditation. Currently, she collaborates on contemplative research, writing and publishing scientific outcomes on meditation. She is now an emerging expert in the field of teaching meditation, mindfulness, and the contemplative sciences.

Her formal training has been with UCLA’s Mindful Awareness Research Center, in Primordial Sound Meditation with Deepak Chopra and within the Insight Meditation tradition. She has been initiated as a teacher by her mentors for her authentic ability to transmit the teachings of meditation.
