The best way to start running is to…start running! So many of us get caught up in figuring out the correct approach that we forget it’s just one foot in front of the other.
Start slowly – a mix of jogging and walking is particularly helpful to add distance – and build speed and distance gradually so your body has time to adjust.
Finally, know going in that it’s not always going to feel great. Don’t ever ignore pain, but push through the initial discomfort and you’ll eventually get to that sweet spot where running feels good and you’re chasing that elusive runner’s high!
