My favorite way to wind down is simple and a little bit luxurious.
The first step is to soften the lighting and turn on my salt rock lamps in my bedroom. I’ll diffuse some of my favorite essential oils: Amrita’s Spiritual Awakening (Mysore Sandalwood, Frankincense & Atlas Cedar) if I need to feel more grounded, Enfleurage’s Wild Lavender if I need to calm my nerves, or Healing of the Heart (lavender and rose) by Kate’s Magik if I want my bedroom to simply smell lovely.
I’ll take a hot shower to wash away the day and lather my skin with jojoba or almond oil. I’ve very Vata, and my skin needs this extra moisture. Once I’ve hydrated my skin, I’ll rub lavender oil on the soles of my feet and put my legs up the wall for as long as I feel I need it. It’s one of my very favorite poses. It absolutely always rejuvenates my legs after a physically arduous day and lures me closer to sleep. This is a tried and true method for better sleep - try it!
