Guinevere Hilton
Guinevere’s relationship with yoga began at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1993. She began to study yoga as part of her B.F.A. in Acting course work. This introduction to movement as a way to connect more deeply with one’s emotional body, to learn to respond to intuition and to harvest the wisdom of the body resonated deeply and is carried into the way she teaches today. From NYU Guinevere met her Guru and spent 3 years studying Sanskrit chanting and Kashmir Shavism meditation. Asana was left by the wayside as she fell in love with the path of the bhakti yogi. Fast forward to leaving NYC and acting, to discovering her love of teaching movement and theater in emotional growth schools. Asana reentered her life through this practice of teaching authentic and expressive movement as a modality for healing. From here she began to teach privately and then earned her 500 hour yoga teacher and yoga therapy training from Purusha Yoga. She has taught teenage girls in therapeutic schools, adaptive yoga, hot vinyasa flow and restorative yoga. Her love of yoga lies in the gift it has to use the body as the doorway to a spiritual path and the bliss of a steady, deep practice.
