Welcome to Los Angeles, the cinematic cityscape that beckons dreamers, doers, and risk-takers from all across the globe.

It’s hard to describe the City of Angels without drifting into a tangent. It’s not that Angelenos are easily distracted—though this might be the case if the surf is just right—it’s that the city is bursting with exciting and exotic flavors around every palm tree.

In Los Angeles you’ll find the foodies strolling the streets of Koreatown, the bohemians selling crystals on the Venice Beach boardwalk, and perhaps a celebrity in a Hollywood farmers market. But the city does more than nurture tomorrow’s Oscar nominees; Los Angeles is also home to groundbreaking yoga instructors and innovative raw chefs. Regardless of whether you’re a screenwriter, a yogi, or an aspiring taco truck owner, you’ll never be bored in Los Angeles.

Where to Eat

Sage Organic Vegan Bistro

4130 Sepulveda Blvd., (424) 228-5835
In LA there’s no shortage of vegan and vegetarian restaurants, but you’d be hard-pressed to find one more nourishing than Sage Organic Vegan Bistro. With outdoor and indoor seating, Sage is a vegan and gluten-free fairy world. Munch on jackfruit tacos under the cute string lights, or slip inside for a kombucha cocktail with a handsome stranger. Hungry for something sweet? This joint takes care of everything, and offers a range of raw desserts and vegan ice creams for your sampling.

Gjelina
1429 Abbot Kinney Blvd., (310) 450-1429

Home to some of Los Angeles’s best American cuisine, Gjelina cooks up more than just seasonally-inspired pizzas, salads, and small plates. The restaurant’s creative, mouthwatering vegetable dishes and sandwiches are also not to be missed. The flavors of each dish are so intricately woven and expertly paired that it’s nearly impossible not to want to try everything. This Abbot Kinney hot spot is no secret though, so prepare for a worthwhile wait if you plan on g during busy hours.

Grand Central Market

317 S. Broadway, (213) 624-2378

Short on time but dying to sample all of the city’s best flavors? Then swing by Grand Central Market, a downtown marketplace bursting with the various cultures and cuisines of Los Angeles. Favorites include Eggslut, Madcapra, Belcampo Meat Co., and Sticky Rice, but you can also score some artisanal jewelry or fill a growler with kombucha. If Los Angeles had a Narnia, this would be it.

Where to Sweat

Wanderlust Hollywood

1357 N. Highland Ave., (323) 967-8855

We may be a bit biased, but it’s for good reason. More than just a yoga studio, Wanderlust Hollywood offers workshops, a meditation den, and a healthy foods cafe with a seasonal, veggie-rich menu designed by superstar chef Seamus Mullen. It’s easy to spend an entire day in the center, going from yoga to meditation to a workshop, and finishing it all off with a refreshing libation on the patio.

Santa Monica Certified Farmers Market

Arizona Ave. and 2nd St., (310) 458-8712

The perfect way to begin your weekend is with a leisurely stroll through the Santa Monica Certified Farmers Market. Whether you’re looking to buy fresh flowers, local produce, or an egg and cheese burrito, you’ll find all that and more from some of the friendliest vendors the city has to offer. Epic Ways to Spend an Afternoon

Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery

6000 Santa Monica Blvd., (323) 221-3343
It doesn’t matter if you’re hanging with your pals, family, or lover, the Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery is one the most beloved SoCal experiences. LA has no shortage of beautiful beaches, but there’s nothing quite like Zuma. Located right off the Pacific Coast Highway and beside the Malibu mountains, Zuma is a white sand beach with plenty of space to lounge and picnic. Parking along the PCH is free, and you can wrap up the afternoon with a patio lunch at Malibu Seafood. Check yes for a perfect day.

Night Out on the Town
