Rupa Mehta: Connect to Your One Word

Rupa Mehta urges us to explore the deeper meaning behind our everyday language and the effect it has on our health and wellness

“Movement of mind and body will lead to movement of heart, and eventually movement in the world.” – Rupa Mehta

In this Speakeasy talk from Wanderlust Stratton 2014, Rupa Mehta urges us to explore the deeper meaning behind our everyday language and the effect it has on our health and wellness. Faced with the growing problem of national obesity and the lack of mindfulness in ourselves and our children, Rupa realized that in order to change our physical health, we must first change the way we think. As Founding Director of the Nalini Method and NaliniKIDS, Rupa has been helping hearts and minds through her classroom based fitness and emotional literacy program since 2009.

Through her gentle coaching, she demonstrates how simple mental exercises can connect our minds and bodies, and provide clarity in understanding the way we value ourselves. With these tools she shows how there can be no lightness in the body when the soul is heavy, and no health when the the body is neglected. By teaching kindness to ourselves and others, we begin to realize how the words we use can either be a light to guide our path or an ember that burns us down. It is up to us to choose.

This lecture also covers:

  • How to build and fill your Mindfulness Toolbox
  • Why being your own teacher is important and useful
  • How to identify and connect to your Power Word
  • Tips for living your One Word and how to use it to guide your emotional compass
