It\u2019s crucial to keep these muscles flexible and open, especially when we perform physical activities that require advanced use of the hamstrings, such as cycling, <a href=\"http:\/\/wanderlust.com\/journal\/how-to-start-running-smart-way\/\" target=\"_blank\">running<\/a>, or weight-lifting. Actively engaging the hamstrings without properly stretching can result in pain and discomfort, and, in severe cases, even injury.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping our hamstrings loose by <a href=\"http:\/\/wanderlust.com\/journal\/3-unexpected-ways-yoga-makes-you-stronger\/\" target=\"_blank\">stretching<\/a> them efficiently and intelligently can help to create a sense of balance and
