{"id":46249,"date":"2016-02-18T10:26:53","date_gmt":"2016-02-18T15:26:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wanderlust.com\/?p=46249"},"modified":"2016-02-18T11:09:05","modified_gmt":"2016-02-18T16:09:05","slug":"elena-brower-facing-loss-and-finding-connection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wanderlust.com\/fr\/journal\/elena-brower-facing-loss-and-finding-connection\/","title":{"rendered":"Elena Brower: Facing Loss and Finding Connection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Elena Brower shares her thoughts below:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This video was recorded two years after my Mama recovered from a stem cell transplant, in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>She ended up <a href=\"http:\/\/yoganonymous.com\/sheryl-sandberg-leaning-in-to-love-loss-after-dave-goldberg-s-tragic-death\" target=\"_blank\">passing on<\/a> just two weeks ago, after enjoying five more years of life post-lymphoma. This video tells a story of a feeling, a sensation of full presence, of awakening, of watching my Mama come <a href=\"http:\/\/wanderlust.com\/journal\/is-it-possible-to-grow-through-our-grief\/\" target=\"_blank\">close to death<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now that I&rsquo;ve watched her <a href=\"http:\/\/wanderlust.com\/journal\/stories-from-wanderlust-teacher-training-death-transcendence\/\" target=\"_blank\">leave us<\/a>, I&rsquo;m grateful to see this story told again. The presence I felt in both instances\u2014the day she almost died, and the day she did\u2014is a feeling I will never forget.<\/p>\n<p>On her <a href=\"http:\/\/yoganonymous.com\/lou-reeds-meditative-death\" target=\"_blank\">last day<\/a>, we surrounded her with conscious love and soft light; we told her stories, spoke to her, sang to her, held her hands until the last moments when I laid my head on her belly, my sister kissed her endlessly, and my dad held her hand so tightly. Hers was a life of generosity, of love, of taking care of her family and wanting nothing more than more time with all of us. She left us too soon, but in such a beautiful and fitting way.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/elenabrower.com\/listen-closely\/the-biggest-thank-you-of-all\" target=\"_blank\">Here are the words I wrote for
