He&rsquo;s spent his life pushing the boundaries of what&rsquo;s possible on the side of a mountain, and redefining the limits of human performance on the snow. In doing, he&rsquo;s been a pioneer in the sport of ski base\u00a0jumping. \u00ab\u00a0Wingsuit ski base\u00a0jumping is kind of a cumbersome, strange thing to do,\u00a0\u00bb JT <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mensjournal.com\/magazine\/reviving-shane-mcconkey-20131011\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told <em>Men&rsquo;s Journal<\/em><\/a>. \u00ab\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">It&rsquo;s like, <\/span>you&rsquo;ve got three different toys\u2014skis, wingsuit, parachute. It&rsquo;s like, make up your mind. But it&rsquo;s the ultimate way to combine some cool things.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s no surprise\u00a0that any gig that takes you as high and extreme as JT&rsquo;s would require a certain degree of <a href=\"http:\/\/wanderlust.com\/journal\/how-walking-on-coal-taught-me-to-be-fearless\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fearlessness<\/a>. For JT, that comes from the emotional part of his brain taking over the cognitive\u2014indeed, it&rsquo;s difficult to imagine a person in his right mind risking the jumps JT does. One of his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/60-minutes-films-jt-holmes-terrifying-run\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">most recent feats<\/a> was to ski and base\u00a0jump\u00a0off Mt. Eiger, a 13,020-foot peak in the Bernese Alps, an exploit that had many nervous he could achieve. He did, and it&rsquo;s pretty crazy to watch.<\/p>\n<p>JT&rsquo;s apparent <a href=\"http:\/\/yoganonymous.com\/friend-your-fear-5-lessons-learned-from-fear\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fearlessness<\/a> doesn&rsquo;t preclude having been confronted with the dangers of his sport. In 2009, JT was present when his best friend and mentor Shane McConkey died jumping off the Italian mountain Sass Pordoi, a 9,685 feet drop.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0I&rsquo;ve had many close calls that make me contemplate the path,\u00a0\u00bb Holmes says, \u00ab\u00a0but instead of saying &lsquo;I&rsquo;m never going to try that again&rsquo;&#8230; I try to get as much information as possible and
