When you speak with her it\u2019s clear that her love for yoga and nutrition constantly propels her forward, inspiring her students and clients to live a life that\u2019s right for them.<\/p>\n<p>Her philosophy is that nourishing yourself &#8211; whether it\u2019s through yoga or healthy eating &#8211; empowers you to become the best version of yourself and to truly come alive.<\/p>\n<p>As she says, \u201cYoga helped me to know myself and and it really changed my life. Yoga gives you a whole new relationship with your body, you\u2019re more intuitive and able to read your body\u2019s signals. If you know how to balance your body in terms of food then you feel really good, you have a healthy immune system and the energy just flows. It\u2019s the same with yoga. Food has such a big impact but a lot of people are unaware of how it affects their bodies and the way they are in life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Instead of preaching the latest fad diet or insisting on one school of thought, Chantal encourages her students and clients to find what works for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t follow one methodology, I\u2019m not a vegan or Paleo health coach, I really want to help people find out how they balance their bodies and find what foods work for them &#8211; because it\u2019s so uniquely individual for each one of us. Sometimes I feel I really need some ginger or spice because it makes me feel good or when I\u2019m really busy I eat foods like oatmeal in the morning or lentil soup with pumpkin. It helps me slow down cause I really need that. It\u2019s all about balance and really knowing what that means to you,\u201d says Chantal.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s this down-to-earth approach to healthy eating that creates a shift in people\u2019s lives because they aren\u2019t trying to fit themselves into a certain prescription that may not work for their particular body type. It\u2019s a very yogic approach to eating and to life.<\/p>\n<p>When asked what advice she would give people who feel they\u2019re too busy to eat healthy, Chantal says, \u201cI think taking care of yourself and listening to your body is really important. If you disrespect your body then you\u2019re gonna basically break down. If I know I have a busy week ahead, I\u2019ll make sure I have a lot of time for meditation or that my fridge is stocked full of healthy food that\u2019s easy to prepare. This helps me to balance myself out more,\u201d Chantal says.<\/p>\n<p>Like anything in life, attitude plays a huge role in how we experience the moments that make up our lives and become our lifestyle or way of living. It\u2019s the stories we tell ourselves that get us stuck &#8211; whether it\u2019s that we feel we can never live up to some impossible ideal and eat \u201cperfectly\u201d all the time or that we\u2019re simply too tired to make healthy choices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you come home and say to yourself &lsquo;I <em>have <\/em>to cook, I <em>have<\/em> to clean or take care of the kids&rsquo; &#8211; whatever it is &#8211; then you\u2019re basically making it impossible to do the things you need to cause it becomes such a struggle. But if you have the attitude instead that you <em>want<\/em> to take care of yourself because you\u2019re <em>worth it<\/em> and your kids are <em>worth it <\/em>and it will help you <em>feel more balanced and healthy<\/em> &#8211; well then, your motivation is intrinsically different than when you\u2019re being guided by short term focus,\u201d explains Chantal.<\/p>\n<p>Yoga lives beyond the mat. It\u2019s in the choices we make to honor what&rsquo;s right for us and to see the bigger picture in any given moment. It\u2019s approaching life with the right attitude and intention, not about the perfect pose on Instagram. It\u2019s about actively showing up to your own life each and everyday, realising that you have the power to change everything. A healthy mind, body and spirit is your gift to the world for it produces much more than one that is running on empty.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of Chantal&rsquo;s favourite recipes to help you shine bright this winter:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/live-wanderlust-fest.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/DSC02873-300x199@2x.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13549\" src=\"http:\/\/live-wanderlust-fest.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/DSC02873-300x199@2x.jpg\" alt=\"DSC02873-300x199@2x.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/chantalsoeters.com\/lemon-honey-ginger-turmeric-tea\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Lemon Honey Ginger Turmeric Tea\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n<p>This spicy and super-charged Lemon Honey Ginger Turmeric Tea\u00a0can help you to\u00a0stop\u00a0a cold in its tracks\u00a0and to speed up your recovery. This is my go-to recipe when I feel a cold coming on. Common\u00a0spices like ginger, pepper, cinnamon and turmeric have a warming effect on the body. They are literally able to knock out a\u00a0cold.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients (makes 4 cups)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1 liter of water<br \/>\n1 (organic) lemon, skin on, cut into thin slices<br \/>\n1 stalk of cinnamon, broken into two pieces<br \/>\n4 whole black pepper corns, lightly crushed<br \/>\n1 piece of (organic) turmeric, skin on, the size of a pinky finger, cut in half (and\/or\u00a01 tsp of dried turmeric powder)<br \/>\n1 piece of (organic) ginger, skin on, the size of a thumb,\u00a0sliced\u00a0(and\/or 1 tsp of dried ginger powder)<br \/>\n1 tbsp of raw honey<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructions<\/strong><br \/>\nBring water up to a boil in a small pan. When the water is boiling, add the lemon slices, ginger, pepper corns and turmeric. Lower heat and allow to\u00a0simmer for 10-15 minutes.<br \/>\nServe in a tea mug with your desired amount of honey. I like to add in a whole tablespoon.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/live-wanderlust-fest.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/soup-600x400.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19917\" src=\"http:\/\/live-wanderlust-fest.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/soup-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"soup-600x400\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/chantalsoeters.com\/red-lentil-coconut-soup\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Red Lentil Coconut Soup<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n<p>This delicious Red Lentil Coconut Soup is winter comfort food at its best. It&rsquo;s warming and nourishing and helps to ground and balance your body.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2 cups red lentils<br \/>\n1 tbsp coconut oil<br \/>\n2 onions, finely chopped<br \/>\n2 tbsp fresh ginger, finely diced<br \/>\n2 cloves of garlic, finely diced<br \/>\n4 large carrots, peeled and cut in bite-size chunks<br \/>\n20 baby tomatoes, halved<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon cinnamon<br \/>\n1 tsp of chili powder (or more if you like it spicy)<br \/>\n1 tbsp yellow curry powder<br \/>\n1 tsp coconut palm sugar<br \/>\n4 cups of (gluten-free) vegetable stock<br \/>\n250 ml coconut milk<br \/>\n2 tbsp fresh cilantro, finely chopped<br \/>\n1 lemon, juice<br \/>\nHimalaya salt to taste<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructions<\/strong><br \/>\nRinse the lentils thoroughly and cook for 30 minutes in a large pot. Skim of the foam during cooking. You can also add the lentils at step 4 but I prefer to cook them separately so you can do get the foam that usually comes with cooking beans in the dish.<\/p>\n<p>In a large saucepan heat coconut oil and add the onion and cook for 2-3 minutes, followed by the carrots, ginger and garlic. Cook, while stirring, for another 2 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Add the chili powder, yellow curry powder and cinnamon and cook for 2 more minutes.\u00a0 Add the baby tomatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes or until soft.<br \/>\nAdd stock, coconut milk, lentils and coconut sugar and cook for 20 more minutes. When ready, use a hand-held blender to create a smooth texture.<br \/>\nSeason with Himalaya salt an serve with a sprinkle of fresh lemon juice and fresh cilantro.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Kara Fujita Jovic\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">believes in the power of the breath to center the soul\u2026that love is a super power &#8211; for it always speaks the loudest\u2026and that dancing in the kitchen while singing Bob Marley\u2019s \u201cThree Little Birds\u201d may just infuse a meal with magical powers.
