The Bar Method
About
Bev Currier is a Washington native who has always had a passion for fitness. She spent much of her early life a gym rat and an avid runner. It wasn’t until moving to the Bay Area in her late twenties that she discovered her true fitness love: The Bar Method. Bev quickly traded in her gym shoes for grippy socks and became an instructor. In 2009, she moved home to Seattle to open the first two barre fitness studios in the Pacific NW. After 13 years of teaching the Bar Method and a decade of studio ownership, Bev continues to inspire her clients to ‘raise the barre’ in their fitness journey and their lives. When Bev is not at the studio she enjoys listening to live music, laughing with friends and family, watching the sunset and taking long walks on the beach with her husband Luke and their dog Happy.
Maika is co-owner of the Bar Method Seattle and has been teaching for 10 years. She discovered Bar Method in SF in 2001 when she was a marathoner in recovery. Bar Method’s low-impact, therapeutic and transformative technique helped Maika heal, strengthen and tone her body. Maika was drawn to the intensity and focus on form and alignment. The workout also provided the mental challenge she needed. After years as a student, Maika decided to quit her finance job and move home to Seattle to open the first barre studio in the Pacific Northwest. Her favorite thing about teaching is helping her students set intentions, find and develop their inner resolve, and be grateful for their ability to move and strengthen their bodies and minds.
