Nicole Jones
About
Nicole is a true proponent of yoga practice, teaching and continuous learning. Originally sought to bring balance and peace into her life 8 years ago, she found solace in the yoga community and a sense of belonging. Since this time, Nicole has pursued extensive yoga training not only for personal development, but also to share the benefits she’s received. Nicole has over 750 hours of training in various yoga styles, receiving her Yoga Fit level one training in 2011, Moksha training in 2012 and Moksha Flow training 2013. More recently, Nicole completed her level 1 Power yoga training under master teacher Baron Baptiste.
She currently teaches Moksha, Moksha flow and power classes at Moksha yoga West Island, but also seizes any opportunity to teach, practice and learn in other yoga communities. She is comfortable teaching students of all ages and abilities, from teenagers to adults, beginners to advanced, athletes and those with special needs. Her passion and dedication lead to recruitment as a yoga ambassador for Lululemon. This connection has allowed her to spearhead numerous local yoga events focused on introducing yoga to 1st time participants.
Her personal practice gives her a sense of freedom – a form of distraction and a place to abandon her worries. Every yoga class provides her with something different. She learns something new every time she steps on her mat. She encourages her students to embrace who they are and accept what their body can do and to always be compassionate toward your self. She has a passion for helping her students to embrace their bodies and to create a practice, which emphasizes self-love and self-acceptance.
Nicole also has a degree from McGill University in physical education and health. She is a full time physical education teacher at Dawson College, specializing in fitness and yoga. She believes being surrounded by students who are eager learners helps her grow as a teacher. Nicole has helped to create two yoga courses at Dawson College: Yoga Retreat and Yoga Lifestyle as well as develop a mind body curriculum, for the level 2, stress coping skills course. Her experience and success with these courses motivated her to create yoga retreats outside of the college that are accessible for the entire community.
Nicole has a passion for health and wellness and this is apparent in all aspects of her life. In her spare time she enjoys walking, hiking, practicing yoga at various studios and she also loves to cook healthy nutrient dense meals. She surrounds herself with those who share the same passion and love for life. She lives by the saying, in life we cannot control what happens but we can control how we react to whatever comes up.
