Luke Egan
About
Born and raised in Newcastle on the east coast of Australia, Luke Egan has had a passion for surfing and the ocean since age seven. The son of Sam Egan, one of Newcastle’s first surfers and an internationally respected surfboard shaper, there was never any question that Luke would pursue a career at the highest level on the world stage.
Luke carved out his professional surfing career as a devoted member of the Merewether Boardriders Club, and still competes at local and national events to this day.
As a kid out of the water, Luke could be found at the family surf shop – the industry in all its facets is in his DNA.
For over two decades, Luke was one of the world’s leading professional surfers. His style, power and incredible tube-riding placed him among the fiercest competitors on the planet. Luke contested the ASP world tour for 22 years and enjoyed enormous success, winning four world tour events. In 2000 he finished runner-up in the world title race and finished in the top 5 five times over the course of his career.
