In early 2000 at the age of 36, I went from being a 2-pack-a-day smoker, to a non-smoking +65 lb overweight guy in disbelief. Just because I quit smoking, didn’t mean I was healthy, and I knew I needed to make a change. Life is what you make it and this was a turning point in my journey of life. The desire to ‘move’ brought me to the sport of triathlon as I charged ahead into the next phase of who I would become. At that time, I didn’t know how to swim, and my wife didn’t know how to bike or run, so we raced together as a team – The Killer B’s. What we quickly realized was we were on the right path to new-found health and well-being, and were having a lot of fun in the process. This set us in motion on a series of worldwide triathlon adventures and endurance accomplishments.

Since 2006, we’ve each raced in 17 Ironman events, including the prestigious Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona Hawaii. We also embraced ultra-distance racing, which lead us to the Ultraman – a 3-day individual ultra-endurance triathlon, consisting of a 10K swim, 420K bike and 84.4K run, competing twice at Ultraman Canada and three times at the Ultraman World Championships in Hawaii. We were subsequently named World Record Title Holders by the Guinness World Book of Records for the “Most Ultraman triathlons finished by a married couple”. In addition to triathlon races, we’ve completed two successful double crossings of the Grand Canyon – Rim to Rim to Rim, and have ran in several marathons, including Boston, Chicago New York and London. We strive to support others and give back to our community as much as possible and coach triathletes and runners of various abilities to reach their goals. My hope to inspire others to push the boundaries of possibility and take time to smile along the way!
