Widely considered to be one of America’s outstanding alignment teachers, Alison West, Ph.D, ERYT, is known for her originality of thought and delight in exploration. Alison is director of Yoga Union in NYC, established in 1996, and the Yoga Union Backcare, Scoliosis and Therapy Center. Her background in Astanga Yoga with both Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and in, NY, Eddie Stern, as well as Iyengar Yoga with the late Mary Dunn, Kevin Gardiner and Genny Kapuler, as well as her original training in the spiritual tradition of Sivananda Yoga has given her a broad-based education from which to grow. Alison cherishes her teachers, her students, the practice itself, and teaching the practice. She brings to her teaching an inquiring mind and a gift for analysis that she joyfully imparts to all her students. Her studio in NYC is an inviting and beautiful home to dedicated yogis of all ages, shapes and sizes. Alison’s 200 and 500 Teacher Trainings are considered a “Gold Standard” (Time Out NY).
