International Yoga Teachers Association

Official Website

International Yoga Teachers Association (IYTA) is a nonprofit yoga teacher training organisation founded by Roma Blair in 1967. The association is run by a national committee who volunteer their time. Each state also has a dedicated volunteer committee. The IYTA upholds the highest ethical standards of yoga teaching and professional conduct for all its members. The IYTA is a registered yoga school with Yoga Alliance (USA) and Yoga Australia. These organisations have a strict policy of registration which is assessed regularly. As well as Australia, IYTA has international representatives and members in Austria, Canada, Fiji, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Oman, Switzerland, Singapore, South Africa, USA and the UK. There are also independent affiliates in Brazil, Puerto Rico and Spain. When you graduate you automatically become part of a worldwide yoga community – if you wish to travel the world and teach yoga you already have family to connect with.

How amazing is that?!

The IYTA promotes the spiritual, physical, mental and emotional benefits of yoga for everybody, regardless of your age, sex, ability or disability, ethnicity or religion. Its core is based on professional and safe yoga teacher training. The course has been running for over 40 years with over 2000 students graduating. The IYTA provides outstanding Continuing Professional Development programs and offers lifechanging Post Graduate courses such as Pre and Post Natal Yoga Teacher Training, Advanced Yoga Teacher Training (with Simon BorgOlivier) and Yoga for Back Care. Also offered is a Foundation Yoga Teacher Training course – a ‘teaser’ to the 12 month course. IYTA is all about helping you become the best person you can be!

In 2017 there will be a celebration of yoga in Sydney. Why not become part of it? Teachers from all over the globe will be sharing their knowledge and love of yoga.
