In today’s tech-driven society, we’re often working on computers and staring at mobile device screens from the moment we wake until we go to sleep. Hunching over these keyboards and tablets has wreaked havoc on our physiological and psychological well-being. Having a chronically tight neck and shoulders can result in a decreased capacity to breathe, which can have a long-term impact on health. We must take care of our upper body.

Practicing asanas that open our shoulders and chests can help to open our hearts as well. It’s a good idea to check in with your alignment periodically throughout the day (whether you’re sitting or standing!) to double-check that your posture is an optimized reflection of your inner state.
