Tiare Tito & Kemara Kennedy

About

Kia ora my name is Tiare Tito and I was born and raised here in the beautiful Taupō district. Tēna koutou katoa, my name is Kemara Kennedy and I was born and raised in Rotorua about 1 hour north of here. Apart from having a shared vision and goals for the future we also have 2 beautiful children together, a son and a daughter.

Growing up we were both immersed in our Māori culture and language from an early age and throughout our schooling which is where we met. We acquired most of our knowledge on the marae and passed down from our elders. We went on to train in different fields pertaining to the Māori arts and culture. Kemara is a expert Mau Rākau practitioner (Māori weaponry), Whakairo Rākau (Māori traditional carver) and Haka expert. Myself I am passionate about Māori health and well being, Māori Rongoā (medicine), Rāranga (weaving), and we are both passionate about retaining the knowledge and wisdom passed down from our ancestors in its most purest form.

Both myself and Kemara have travelled the world as ambassotors for our culture over the years our most recent trip was to Chile last year as part of the Tuku Iho contingent of Te Puia showcasing and sharing our traditional arts and crafts.

Te Rua Mauri meaning the keepsake or storage of knowledge and wisdom is a vision we both have for the future. We are wanting to store and retain the knowledge of our culture and teachings in their most organic and authentic form, allowing us to create a shift in how our cultural practices are retained and help educate people about our culture.
We hope you enjoy and take away a sense of empowerment and mindfulness from what we have to offer and we look forward to meeting you all.
